Send encrypted SMS messages from your Android handset.

CloakSMS allows you to compose and send encrypted SMS messages from your Android device.

Using 128 bit AES encryption, CloakSMS provides a simple and fast way to send sensitive data over SMS. The Android client allows you to compose the text of the SMS message and send it to a destination handset. The receiver of the message can use the CloakSMS client to decode and view the message. Some of the features of how it works are:

1) Uses a 'shared password'. You pick a password when you encrypt the message and the receiver must know the password in order to decode the message.

2) The length of the original message can be longer than 160 characters. If you enter in text that creates an encrypted string longer than what can be sent in a single SMS message, CloakSMS will break up the entire encrypted string into multiple SMS messages and send those to the destination handset. CloakSMS running on the receiving users handset will reassemble all the pieces into the original message. The text of the un-encoded message can also be longer than 160.

3) This is "experimental". Updates will be posted as changes are made.

4) Tested on Android 1.6 on T-Mobile.
